An American-Brazilian Partnership in Child Psychiatry Training

When Yale President Peter Salovey traveled to Brazil in 2014 to build networks with Brazilian universities, a collaboration between two friends, one American and one Brazilian, became part of a broader, more formal partnership between their two institutions.

Neison Harris Professor in the Yale Child Study Center and Professor of Pediatrics James Leckman, M.D., Ph.D., has been working with University of São Paulo (USP), School of Medicine physician Euripedes Constantino Miguel, M.D., Ph.D., since 1997. Their fruitful partnership in the field of child psychiatry has yielded 21 publications, several mentorships at both institutions, and a USP doctoral degree earned by Dr. Leckman in 2014.
