Rooftop Soiree and Art Auction for Nepal on 5/23 Raised Over RMB40,000
On a sunny Saturday afternoon at Migas rooftop, Yale Club of Beijing, together with five other alumni clubs (Princeton, MIT, UPenn, Columbia, and Cornell) co-sponsored a silent art auction to raise funds for the Nepal earthquake. The benefit event, organized by Philanthropy in Motion (a nonprofit founded by two Yale alums), featured artwork ranging from Nepal-inspired canvases created by the Beijing community to original works donated by professional photographers and artists. As the resident DJ spun upbeat tunes to the receding rays of the sun, over a hundred people milled about placing bids on their favorite pieces of artwork and photographs. With a large majority of the art eventually finding happy homes and Migas giving all profits from beverage sales at the bar, we raised over RMB 40,000 to support International Medical Corps to deliver much needed emergency aid to the Himalayan nation. Financial details: Migas drinks profits RMB7,785 + artwork auction RMB32,759 = RMB40,544.
