ANY Celebrates the Accomplishments of Its Membership: Silent Anatomies by Monica Ong Reed

March 13 | 7-9 PM | Silk Road Art Gallery, 83 Audobon Street

Join us for the Pop-Up Exhibition and Book Launch Party for Silent Anatomies! Monica Ong Reed, Design Manager at Yale’s School of Music and member of the Asian Network at Yale, will be reading and signing books. Limited edition broadsides of three of her poems will also be available for sale.

At the event, ANY will be raffling 5 copies of Silent Anatomies, a collection of poems that examines the phenomena of “cultural silences” that shape the medical-emotional landscape of family diaspora, extending from China to the Philippines and North America. Her experimental writing intersects with the visual arts, medical humanities and issues of race and gender in contemporary Asian-American poetry.

The party will be hosted at the Silk Road Art Gallery in the heart of New Haven’s arts district. The Silk Road Art Gallery is a unique bridge between East and West. Since March 2014, the gallery has introduced local audiences to contemporary masters of the art of Chinese brush painting, alongside traditional Chinese folk art, sculpture, pottery, and even tea.

Monica is a Kundiman poetry fellow, and was selected by Guggenheim Fellow and poet Joy Harho as the 2014 Kore Press First Book Award Winner.
